this is the old hong kong airport. altho flying into teh new one is still damn scary, you fly in with scyscrapers 20 meteres from your wingtips. i swear ive seen families eating dinner in their homes at times when iev flown in there!
i remember when i went to Alaska our pilot wouldn’t quit saying that we would do like 100000 inversions half way throught the flight he almost pulled off going sideways and almost threatened us that he would pull of an Immelmann. and i thought: am i on a roller coaster?
I used to dread flying into Kai Tak because of this bullshit maneuver. It was the only way to line up on the active. You should see the looks I got from the passengers that never experienced it. If looks could kill?…
Every airline have to do like this when landing at Kai Tak Airport. This is also for passenger safety. If the pilot didn’t do steep turning like this then the plane will crash. If I’m a pilot and if I take care of passengers’ safety, I will do this because I don’t want my plane to crash. If we are passengers, we have no choice because Kai Tak is the only airport in Hong Kong before.
Also, it is the responsibility for the passengers to sit properly and have their belt properly tied.

Kai Tak airport is the only airport in Hong Kong before the new airport was built.

makes you realise its not all sitting back, and letting the autopilot do the work. Nice one mate
i love the way the tail ’skids’ around the turn-with no under/overshoot…bam!
i don’t care what anybody says. That was pure and true skill. Well done pilot.
Wow what a true pilot, fair enough if he was landing a small airline with that approach but a bloody jumbo jet, damn truly brilliant
